Who informs the agent before you do?

In 43 research runs, agents recorded 307 claims. Two hundred were marked as not verified on a brand-owned page. That does not mean those claims were wrong. It means the brand’s own page was not where the record established them.

One customer question, several information sources

  3. Review siteMint Mobile customer supportreviews.org“Confirmed Mint Mobile does have a live phone support line (1-800-683-7392, limited hours) but reaching an agent requires going through automated menus first.”

  5. RecommendationMetro by T-Mobile, with Cricket Wireless as backup“Metro by T-Mobile (3-line Unlimited, ~$75/mo) as primary; Cricket Wireless (3-line Select Unlimited, ~$90/mo) as backup alternative”
One recorded example, not an aggregate customer journey. Source entries show what the agent said informed its research; they do not isolate the causal contribution of any one source. Quoted prices are what the agent recorded then, not current offers.

In a telecom run, the agent’s record named a comparison site as the source for a Cricket Wireless plan price. It named a review site for information about Mint Mobile’s customer support. For its view of several large carriers’ prices, it referred to general model knowledge.

Those are three different routes into a decision: another publisher’s page, a review and remembered information. They should not be treated as one source—or assumed to be equally reliable.

The run recommended Metro by T-Mobile as its primary option and Cricket Wireless as a backup. The source entries show what the agent said informed its research; they do not isolate the causal contribution of any one source.

Elsewhere, the records include regulators and travel comparison sites. Some claims not checked on a brand’s own property concern general rules rather than a specific company. “Outside the brand’s website” is not another way of saying “misinformation.”

Why this matters commercially

An enterprise can know exactly what it published and still not know which version of its offer the customer’s agent assembled.

The decision environment includes information the brand owns, information others publish and information the model brings with it. That is relevant to acquisition, product positioning and customer expectations—not just search visibility.

For a CX leader, a useful question is: what might the customer’s agent already believe before the first conversation begins?

What we observed

  • 307 claims were recorded across the 43 runs.
  • 200 were marked as not verified on a brand-owned page.
  • Of those 200, 189 were also marked decision-shaping in the records.

The claims are not 307 independent customer decisions. A single run can contain several claims, and the same fact can recur in several runs.

How we know

The supplied research records contain the source URL where available, source type, reported readability and the agent’s explanation of what it took from the source. Information identified as model memory has no visited-page URL and must remain separately labelled.

These are recorded source attributions, not an independent audit of every underlying fact or a complete network log. Historical quoted prices and policy descriptions are shown as what the agent recorded then, not as current consumer guidance.
